Filipa Nawaar (Portugal/Qatar)

Co-organizer 

Dancer, instructor, choreographer, events manager and co-organizer of East Fest Lisbon Portugal - International Oriental Dance Festival of Lisbon, since its first edition, along with her friend and dancer Cris Aysel.


Started her path in dance at a very young age with Jazz, contemporary dance and theater techniques with Ema Inácio, Peter Michael Dietz and Paula Perdigão as their teachers.

In 2004, she fell in love with oriental dance/raks sharki and since then she has continued her studies in this dance form which she considers to be the utmost expression of herself.

Filipa studied with names such as  Mahmoud Reda, Khaled Mahmoud, Gamal Seif, Nour and Yasser, Asmahan, Joana Saahirah, Sara Naadirah, Íris, Prisca D., Claudia Cenci, Hossam and Serena Ramzy, Aziza,  Munique Neith, Kaeshi Kai, Nuriel el Nur, Janah Ferreira, Fatema, Lorna of Cairo, Aziza of Cairo, Silvia Brazzoli, Bruno Habibi, amongst many others.

In addition, she participated for several years in the International dance festival organized by the renowned GCP, in Lisbon and also the course of "Fundamentals of Training in Dance" by the Faculty of Motricidade Humana, with Sebastian Gomez and Luís Xarez. 


In 2006 she initiated her regular performances at Palácio de Almanzor, an exclusive Arabian Cafe with regular dance performances. Later on, she started her instruction career with classes and workshops in numerous gymnasiums and dance groups.


In 2009, she travels to Egypt to enrich her knowledge regarding the Egyptian culture and in the same year, with Cris Aysel, founded a study group with regular thematic workshops for dancers to expand their knowledge.

In 2010, East Fest Lisbon Portugal comes to reality. It was the first bellydance festival of its kind ever held in Portugal where dance meets art in a series of amazing workshops, shows and a magical atmosphere, until today.

​

Since 2011, Filipa is based in the Middle East, which gives her the opportunity to develop her knowledge about the Arabic culture on a daily basis. This also made her develop a special workshop, launched in Italy, exclusively focused in Arabic Culture and Traditions.

In addition, she is currently working on a project that explores oriental dance and its holistic perspective and ancient knowledge.

Filipa teaches and performs around the world in festivals and her style of dance is often described as elegant and classic.
